Many of our Halloween traditions today are far removed from those that they are based on. Today, we dress up and head out to parties to have a good time or go out trick or treating. Whilst both of these things took place in the past, they were for very different reasons! Originally, Halloween was actually called Hallows Eve, as it was the day before All Hallows Day. Also known as All Saints Day, this was the celebration of all of the saints of the church! All of the spooky stuff came into it, however, as people praised the good souls of the past, but were wary of all the bad ones, too. So, they wanted to protect themselves!

Inspired by those historic festivities and traditions, Halloween today is it’s own celebration! Whilst we dress up and go trick or treating, it’s all in the name of fun and making the most of all things spooky!
