Each year when Easter comes around, there are plenty of reasons to get excited that come with it. From time spent with family to the mountains of chocolate, it’s a wonderful time of year for everyone!
But arguably, an Easter Egg Hunt is the most exciting part of all – especially for the younger ones among us. Whether you choose the traditional way of hiding eggs in the garden, an indoor hunt or add some riddles into the mix, an Easter egg hunt is a wonderful way to make your Easter Sunday special! From the best chocolate treats to hide, to ways to make your scavenger as fun as possible, here are some ideas for getting the most out of your Easter egg hunt!

A hunt in the garden is the classic Easter egg hunt! It’s also an easy one to organise, too. With no preparation required for the garden, it’s simply a case of thinking about the hiding places, and then deciding what treats are going to be best.
This kind of hunt perfect for younger kids. But you’re going to want to avoid hiding the eggs anywhere too difficult – or too high off the ground! So, up in trees isn’t the best idea, and if your garden has a pond, keep the little ones away from there, too! You want to avoid prickly bushes and any thorns as well. So, look for leafier spots to hide them lower down, or use the plants pots. If the little ones have any garden toys, like a Wendy house or climbing frame, these are great too. It could be beneficial to make a note of where you’ve hidden them, though, so no chocolate gets left behind!
For this kind of hunt, foiled chocolates are a good choice. They’re individually wrapped so the chocolate doesn’t get dirty, and the foil is brightly coloured and easier to spot! Little wicker baskets are a lovely touch, too. They’re perfect for kids to keep their findings in, but they will also come in useful down the line for picnics, or sweets gifts like making your own chocolate hamper!

You don’t have to be outside to search for Easter eggs! An indoor hunt may not sound as exciting, but that certainly isn’t the case. It is also weather proof, so you don’t have to worry about rain!
For an indoor hunt to work, you’ll have to think about where you can hide your treats in advance – and then find time to hide them without any prying eyes! But once you’ve worked this out, there are plenty of ways to make it exciting for everyone.
You could simply set your hunters loose to find as many as they can, or you could have some Easter egg hunt clues – from the Easter bunny, of course – to help them find treats in trickier spots. If your hunters all live in the house, then the latter option will make it more exciting. For example, you could have a clue like ‘you might have this with a cup of hot chocolate’ and hide a treat in their favourite mug. Or ‘I bed you can’t find me’, leading them to treats hidden under the bed.
Another way you could add excitement is to make it a competition. Foiled eggs come in so many different colours that it's easy to have one for each egg hunter! To take it further, you could hide the same number of each colour around the house and see who finds the most in a certain time limit!

Preparing a clue-led hunt is a great way to engage older hunters. We’re talking about more complicated ones than we suggested for an indoor hunt, though. Creating a series of riddles will require a decent amount of preparation on your part, but it’s worth it to see teenagers and adults alike racking their brains and getting competitive! This type of hunt will require teamwork and is great if you’re hosting a bigger family gathering.
You can have clues that take people on a tour around the house and garden, or you can send them off around the nearby streets – it’s up to you. If you send people out, you better make sure there are some treats waiting when they get back!
There are so many different ways you can come up with clues. You can have anagrams of places they’re hidden or go for cryptic riddles and see who gets them right! If you are staying in and around the house, you can combine this with hidden treats for the ultimate hunt. Equally, if your hunters head further afield in search of answers, you can have an answer session when they all return. This is great because you can either hand out treats for correct answers or give out prizes to the winning team! But, in the spirit of Easter, we’d suggest giving everyone prizes, and just let the winners have bragging rights!

Whatever kind of Easter egg hunt you host, you are going to need treats. Some you will hide, whilst some will be given as prizes. But either way, you’re going to need some treats! And here at Wholesale Sweets, you’ll be able to find all of the Easter chocolate you need!
Foiled chocolate eggs are the obvious choice for the Easter Bunny to hide away, and we have a great selection of them! But we also have some beautiful chocolate bunnies! There are both big and small choices, so there are bunnies that’re perfect for hiding and bunnies perfect for gifts or prizes!
Sharing bags and bars are also brilliant if you want a chocolatey prize for your Easter egg hunt. There are mouth-watering options from your favourite brands – such as Cadbury, Lindt and the biggest Nestle names!
